Role Summary
The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) plays a critical role in ensuring the overall quality, performance, and stability of the Restaurant Automation System being developed by Octagon IT LLC for 18thnindian LLC. The SDET bridges the gap between development and testing by designing, building, and maintaining automated testing frameworks and tools to validate all layers of the application — frontend, backend, API, database, and cloud infrastructure.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust automated test frameworks for Java-based backend and React-based frontend components.
- Develop API-level test automation using tools like Postman, RestAssured, or Karate.
- Create and execute performance, load, and stress testing scenarios using JMeter or similar tools.
- Collaborate with developers during the sprint cycle to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Docker.
- Implement continuous testing as part of DevOps workflows to ensure fast feedback and defect prevention.
- Conduct root cause analysis for defects and production incidents to improve test coverage and reliability.
- Write test plans, test cases, and maintain traceability matrices aligned with business requirements.
- Perform database validation (SQL queries, data consistency, integrity checks) across environments.
- Ensure cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility for all frontend components.
