- This position involves conducting site visits, researching property, reviewing code books, and issuing citations as necessary.
- The selected candidate will work closely with contractors, property owners, developers, and other stakeholders to explain and interpret codes and compliance requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role, as the individual will be interacting with various groups, including the public, local businesses, and government agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with building codes and regulations by conducting inspections, reviewing plans and permits, and issuing certifications.
- Responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints, and requests for assistance from the public and other stakeholders.
- Liaises with local government agencies, contractors, and property owners to provide guidance and support on code-related matters.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Administration, Code Enforcement, Building Inspection, or a related field.
- At least six months of experience in customer service, knowledge of magistrate court procedures, and understanding of basic construction procedures.
- Certified ICC Certification (Certified Code Enforcement Official) preferred.
