We're currently in search of a dynamic and driven Senior Planner to join our growing onsite project team in New Haven, CT! As a Planner, you'll play a pivotal part in providing project planning support for a prestigious major capital improvement program at one of the world's foremost scientific research institutions. Responsibilities:

  • Support assigned projects during the planning stage by working with municipal permitting and approval agencies to ensure required submissions are prepared, presented, and approved in alignment with project execution timelines.
  • Advocate for organizational interests in meetings with municipal authorities and authorities having jurisdiction throughout the planning and permitting process.
  • Review architectural plans to support Program Directors and ensure adherence to organizational design standards throughout the design development process.
  • Provide ongoing code and constructability review for the Architectural discipline and coordinate plan review services across Civil, Structural, Plumbing, HVAC, and Electrical disciplines.
  • Develop planning models based on departmental needs and institutional priorities.
  • Participate in the resolution of planning and technical conflicts and recommend cost-effective options and approaches.
  • Ensure institutional planning objectives and strategies are incorporated into departmental plans and projects.
  • Manage authorizations by preparing clear and concise presentations that distill complex project issues into actionable options to support informed and timely decision-making.
  • Provide recommendations and guidance on physical planning, comprehensive planning, and design issues, large-scale planning studies, and special facilities planning topics.
  • Manage and review the progress and quality of work performed by outside and in-house consultants.
  • Act as the primary contact among project architects, consultants, building committees, technical and operations groups, and staff members during the planning phase of projects.
  • Advise on conformity with specifications, applicable codes, regulations, and organizational design standards.
  • Develop architectural program requirements and overall project budgets, including construction, consultant fees, furnishings and equipment, operations, and testing costs.
  • Manage the consultant selection process and ensure planning-phase activities are completed within approved budgets and schedules.

Qualifications: 

  • A minimum of 10 years of related experience with a background in research laboratory, healthcare, and/or higher education projects.  
  • Completed Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, highly preferred
  • Experience with logistical space planning, Master planning, and facilities condition assessments 
  • Strong self-starter with the ability to work independently on-site while collaborating with the corporate team as needed
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to manage challenging, multi-faceted projects.
  • Well-versed in all construction industry delivery methods.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as Bluebeam & other industry standard software.
  • Ability to successfully pass a thorough criminal background check

Compensation: $160,000 - 200,000
