You'll work closely with physicians and the clinical team to support complete medical records, efficient patient flow, and a positive patient experience.
What You'll Do
- Real-Time Clinical Documentation: Accurately document patient-provider interactions, including examination findings, diagnoses, prescriptions, treatment plans, and patient instructions.
- Chart & Exam Preparation: Prepare patient charts, the EMR, and exam rooms according to physician requirements and preferences.
- Orders & Follow-Up: Track physician testing and medication orders and maintain organized, complete documentation.
- Documentation Quality: Use active listening, critical thinking, and attention to detail to identify inconsistencies and seek clarification when needed.
- Patient Support: Help patients understand testing and visit steps and communicate patient needs to the clinical team.
- Teamwork & Patient Flow: Collaborate with physicians, technicians, and clinical staff to support efficient visits and quality care.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience with EMR/EHR applications preferred; NextGen is preferred but not required.
- Proficient typing and computer skills with the ability to document accurately in real time.
- Knowledge of ophthalmic and general medical terminology, anatomy, abbreviations, and documentation standards preferred.
- Previous customer service and/or medical experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Completion of the Ophthalmic Scribe Level 1 competency checklist within 90 days of hire is required.
