Join Ochsner Health in the Northshore region — we’re seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist First Assist to support our surgical team at St. Tammany Health System in Covington. This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in delivering high-quality surgical care in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
The Surgical Tech First Assist works alongside surgeons and the operating room team to support a wide range of surgical procedures. In this role, you’ll provide direct intraoperative assistance, helping ensure procedures are performed safely and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program (required).
- Surgical Technologist certification (required).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
- Completion of a Surgical First Assistant program or equivalent experience (preferred).
- Prior operating room experience (required).
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile technique.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical environment.
- Proficiency with computers and clinical systems.
