Full-Time | $32–$35/hour Up to $12,000 Annual Performance Bonus
OCHA Matcha is opening a new matcha-focused café at Serramonte Center in Daly City.
Our approximately 354 sq. ft. store is designed as a compact, high-volume operation.
We are looking for a hands-on, highly accountable Store Manager to join us before opening and help build the store from the ground up.
This role goes beyond traditional day-to-day store management. The Store Manager will work closely with ownership during the pre-opening phase, help lead the store opening process, build the initial team and operating systems, and ultimately take ownership of the store’s daily performance.
What You’ll Do
Pre-Opening
You will join OCHA Matcha before the store opens and play a key role in launch preparation, including:
- Recruit, interview, and help hire the opening team
- Coordinate employee onboarding and opening training
- Build initial staffing schedules and labor plans
- Assist with POS setup, menu setup, payment systems, and operational workflows
- Coordinate with equipment vendors, contractors, and suppliers
- Track equipment delivery, installation, testing, and opening readiness
- Help follow up on permits, inspections, licenses, and other opening requirements
- Assist with inventory setup, ordering systems, receiving, and storage
- Help establish store SOPs, opening and closing procedures, and operating standards
- Support soft opening and grand opening execution
- Resolve last-mile operational issues and ensure the store is ready to open on schedule
Store Operations
Once the store opens, you will take ownership of day-to-day store performance, including:
- Lead, manage, and develop the store team
- Recruit, train, coach, and retain strong employees
- Build schedules and manage labor efficiently
- Maintain excellent product quality, speed of service, cleanliness, and hospitality
- Manage inventory, ordering, waste, and product availability
- Monitor sales, labor, product costs, and other key operating metrics
- Ensure food safety and company operating standards are consistently followed
- Manage customer issues and maintain a high standard of customer experience
- Maintain equipment and coordinate repairs and maintenance when necessary
- Build a strong, accountable, and positive store culture
- Improve workflow, throughput, labor productivity, and peak-hour execution
- Work closely with ownership on store performance and continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines strong operational discipline with a willingness to be hands-on.
Ideal candidates will have:
- 2 years of restaurant, café, beverage, retail food service, or fast-casual management experience
- Experience managing and developing hourly employees
- Strong recruiting, scheduling, training, and team leadership skills
- Experience opening a new café, restaurant, or retail food location is strongly preferred
- Comfort working with POS systems, equipment vendors, contractors, and suppliers
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and solve problems independently
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Willingness to work alongside the team on the floor when needed
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and peak retail periods
Experience with coffee, matcha, boba, desserts, or other high-volume beverage concepts is a plus.
Compensation
Base Compensation: $32–$35/hour, depending on experience. The Store Manager should generally expect to work approximately 40–45 hours per week
Performance Bonus: Up to approximately $12,000 annually
At a typical full-time schedule, base compensation is expected to be approximately $76,000–$82,000 annually with overtime paid in accordance with California Law, with target total cash compensation for a strong performer of approximately $90,000–$95,000 .
Overtime will be paid in accordance with applicable California law.
Performance bonus may be based on factors including:
- Store sales performance
- Labor management
- Product cost and waste control
- Customer experience
- Operational standards
- Team development and retention
- Overall store execution
Specific bonus structure and performance metrics will be discussed during the interview process.
