What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN- Emergency position at OCH Regional Medical Center?
He/She is responsible for the professional nursing care of all assigned patients in accordance with established standards of care and within the scope of the current Nurse
Practice Act. The RN is responsible for meeting the physical, psychosocial and emotional needs of the patients assigned to his/her care. The RN is responsible for
maintaining the patient’s medical record with proper documentation of observations and nursing actions taken. The RN prescribes, delegates and coordinates the rendered nursing care. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN is responsible for maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment at all times.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current Mississippi licensure as a
- ACLS, PALS, TNCC certified (grace period – within 6 months of hire)
- CPR certified
- ER/Critical Care experience preferred
- Responsible to the Emergency Department Director, following the OCH Chain of Command
- Workers supervised: Nurse Technicians, Environmental Service personnel, Emergency Medical Technicians, students and supplemental nursing staff as applicable

“Continuously” = 67% - 100% on the workday. “Occasionally” may also be described as
work performed once every 3 minutes, “frequently” once every 1 ½ to 3 minutes and
“continuously” as once every 1 ½minutes.

Patient Population
The Emergency Department population ranges from delivery of newborn to geriatric patients. OCH Regional Medical Center Emergency Department sees approximately
25,000 patients per year. The patient population consists of multiple ethnic backgrounds as we serve a very diverse community.
Education
Required- Associate of Science - Nursing or better in Nursing
Licenses & Certifications
Required- PALS
- ACLS
- BLS
