Job Description- Maintenance 2/General Maintenance
General Maintenance and repair workers fix and maintain buildings and grounds. These workers often
carry out many different task in a single day. They work from work orders and assigned projects and
may work both indoors and outdoors. In addition to the hospital we services hospital clinic outside the
hospital.
Duties
Duties include the following, other duties may be assigned.
1. Perform minor and major repairs on all buildings and equipment. (Major repairs are performed
under the supervision of Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance 1 technician.)
2. Performs preventative maintenance assigned thru our P.M. Program on buildings, equipment and
other assignments.
3. Inspects and cleans mechanical rooms and work areas in the shop.
4. Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building, equipment and maintains records of
the checklist. ( Daily Rounds, Work Orders)
5. May operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment. (Siemens Energy
Management system)
6. Assist with renovation projects of buildings; repairing walls, drywall installation, finishing drywall
and painting.
Responsibilities
1. Responsible for carrying out assignments related to jobs or projects.
2. Must have an understanding on the proper use of manual and electrical tools.
3. Familiar with safety procedures and safety equipment such as eye protection, hearing protection
and electrical safety.
4. Responsible for in-service education, hospital wide mandatory compliance in-services.
5. Respond to routine and emergency work order request.
Minimum Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function

required.
Education/Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of responsible experience in
buildings, grounds, maintenance and repairs; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and
experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to
effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Mathematics Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure of measurement using whole numbers,
fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to
deal with problems and problem solving in any situation.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration
This position only requires a valid Mississippi Driver’s License.

employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to figures, handle, or feel; reach with hands
