The Electrical Technician will perform scheduled and corrective maintenance, integration, testing, field installation, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment and systems. Work primarily occurs at URC in San Diego and will require travel to various locations in the US, at sea and abroad.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide sound and seasoned technical judgement that follows company policies and procedures in meeting SROMC obligations.
- Conduct electrical and electronic maintenance and operation of all USN submarine rescue systems and support equipment (SRDRS, ROV, SILOS, LWMS). Maintain rescue teams and systems in the highest state of readiness in order to meet Fleet requirements.
- Works within and supports a safety culture that is in compliance with Oceaneering’s Life Safety Rules and HSE program.
- Working knowledge of applicable technical requirements from NAVSEA SS800-AG-MAN-010/P9290 (Systems Certification Procedures and Criteria Manual for Deep Submergence Systems), NAVSEA SS521-AA-MAN-010 (U.S. Navy Diving and Manned Hyperbaric System Safety Certification Manual), and American Bureau of Shipping rules.
- Be able to document maintenance and operational activities in accordance with applicable procedures to sustain certification of submarine rescue system equipment.
- Resolve technical, procedural, and schedule issues.
- Formulate methods and processes which will increase safety, efficiency and readiness.
- Soldering, electrical assembly, power/comm cable testing, fiber optics termination and troubleshooting.
- Some light mechanical assembly associated with submarine rescue systems and supporting equipment, including ROV electronic enclosures and diesel generators.
- Use electrical meters, high voltage meggers, fiber optic sources and power meters, and similar test equipment.
- Travel and at-sea watchstanding will be required.
- Desirable for candidate to be familiar with the operation and use of oscilloscopes, electrical and optical time domain reflectometers (TDRs), logic and frequency analyzers, spectrum analyzers.
- Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical Associates Degree or tech trade school preferred.
- Minimum two years formal electronics training or four years of progressively responsible, on-scene experience in electrical/electronic assembly.
- Able to interpret complex electrical schematics.
- Above average skills in soldering and electrical assembly.
- Electrical/electronic assembly/inspection and/or soldering certificate (IPC-WHMA-620, IPC J-STD, etc.) desired, or equivalent skill in lieu of certificate.
- Experience with cable assembly/wire harness assembly.
- Experience with fiber optic cable assembly, troubleshooting and repair.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work with minimum supervision under a variety of conditions.
- A current valid U.S. passport is required.
- Must be able to obtain security clearance.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Experience with PWB/PCB assembly including thru-hole and surface mount is considered a plus.
- Experience with Deep Submergence Systems – Scope of Certification (DSS-SOC) is considered a plus.
- Experience troubleshooting to the component level is preferred.
- Knowledge of shipboard wiring and/or subsea systems (ROVs/AUVs) is preferred.
