Haul Truck Operator

The role aims to join a team that operates a variety of haul trucks and equipment at OceanaGold’s Haile Gold Mine.

1. Category 1

• Operation of haul trucks
  • Operating productively while maximizing machine life and machine performance
• Ensure the haul truck is operated safely and in accordance with company procedures
• Perform pre-shift inspection and document appropriately

2. Category 2

• Report any operational hazards to the supervisor on shift
• Ensure the haul truck is operated for reliability (O4R)

3 Category 3

• Communicate via 2-way radio
• Assist in mine support activities as necessary

• At least 1 year of experience operating equipment
• Willingness to work night shift
• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

Knowledge & Core Functional Competencies:

• Excellent problem-solving skills with complex problems, including both definition of the problem and generation and evaluation of solutions.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, including goal setting, group performance monitoring, and the ability to modify priorities when necessary to achieve these goals
  • The ability to decide from a range of competing options where the outcomes are not entirely predictable
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, and the ability to convince others to co-operator and contribute.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in both office and operational mining environments.
• Ability to regularly access active mining and processing areas to support operational teams, conduct site visits, investigations, coaching, and workforce engagement activities.
• Ability to walk on uneven terrain, climb stairs and access elevated work areas as required.
• Ability to wear and use mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE).

Licences/Tickets:

• Valid driver’s license.
