What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health Worker (Per Diem) position at Ocean View Psychiatric Health Facility?
Ocean View Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) is a licensed 36-bed, Joint Commissioned Accredited facility. Our specialty programs focus on adults in a mental health crisis, in need of stabilization, and co-occurring disorders. The multidisciplinary team provides the highest gold standard of care to our patients in an acute inpatient setting.
We are looking for candidates to fill our Mental Health Worker (MHW), Per Diem, position in Long Beach, CA, for the AM, PM, and/or NOC shifts. The population we serve are patients of 18 years of age or older with acute psychiatric problems.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Promote and assist Patients with self-help skills in the areas of eating, hygiene and grooming, and other activities.
- Encourage Patient's interaction and socialization with other peers by providing feedback to Patients and while acting as a role model.
- Visually and audibly observe Patient's physical and psychiatric conditions and report significant changes to the Charge Nurse.
- Participate in in-service education as required by State and facility regulations.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment throughout the hospital.
Minimum Qualifications:
- College classes geared toward a BS in Psychology or of related field.
- 2 years’ experience working with mentally ill Patients.
