In today’s dynamic and rapidly shifting media environment, the Associate Digital Business Director serves as a senior strategic partner, responsible for shaping high-impact, cross-platform digital strategies that align with clients’ business goals. This role bridges strategic leadership, team development, operational oversight, and client partnership—delivering excellence across digital video, programmatic, mobile, and emerging channels.
The Associate Director plays a dual role: driving the strategic direction of client initiatives while leading the development and optimization of full-funnel digital media campaigns.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Innovation
- Lead the development of forward-thinking digital strategies aligned with client and agency objectives.
- Leverage cross-channel insights to inform integrated media plans with a focus on video, programmatic, CTV, and mobile.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and growth by staying at the forefront of digital trends, tools, and technologies.
- Connect digital strategy to client business metrics, customer acquisition, LTV, revenue goals and push beyond media KPIs to frame impact in business terms.
- Own testing frameworks tied to client growth questions, define hypotheses, success criteria, and learning application across accounts.
- Able to confidently translate business goals into cross-platform digital strategies and collaborate directly with buying team (e.g., YouTube, Meta, Programmatic, CTV) to guide execution.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner closely with Digital, Operations, and Analytics to ensure strategic alignment and operational excellence across all digital touchpoints.
- Foster skill development and a culture of collaboration.
Operational Management
- Oversee the day-to-day management of digital campaigns, ensuring efficiency, quality, and timely delivery across all workstreams.
- Collaborate on campaign measurement strategies, testing roadmaps, and the evolution of internal planning and reporting tools.
Performance & Budget Management
- Track and optimize KPIs across campaigns, providing clear insights into performance and opportunities for improvement.
- Manage budgets associated with digital media plans, ensuring responsible investment and ROI optimization.
- Anticipate roadblocks, reframe client challenges, and bring forward strategic solutions that drive clarity and unlock momentum.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
- Serve as a strategic thought leader in client meetings and presentations, delivering clear, compelling narratives tied to business outcomes.
- Contribute to new business development efforts and the growth of current client relationships by showcasing digital leadership and value creation.
- Craft and deliver strategic narratives that build client confidence, shaping messaging for senior stakeholders, influencing digital direction, and securing buy-in for innovation or investment shifts.
- Take lead in responding to client questions, overcoming hesitations, and guiding next steps, drawing in digital SMEs as needed to support momentum and confidence
Supervisory responsibilities
Can recommend hiring, terminating, corrective actions and performance reviews for account executive level employees
May execute performance reviews for account executive level employees
Education and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) required
Experience
5-7 years of digital media strategy, planning, and execution experience required, including team leadership
Proven success in managing cross-screen media campaigns (programmatic, mobile, CTV, video)
Strong familiarity with measurement, attribution, and media analytics tools
Specific knowledge required
Deep understanding of media landscape, including emerging digital technologies and platforms
Ability to lead strategic discussions and develop innovative solutions that drive business results
Strong analytical mindset with comfort in interpreting data and applying insights
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior-level stakeholders
Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex digital initiatives at scale
LANGUAGE SKILLS REQUIRED:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write clear, concise, and persuasive documents. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or clients
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
REASONING ABILITIES:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Attention to Detail
Compensation Range: $85-$110k/year. This is the pay range Ocean Media reasonably expects it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on level of experience, relevant skills, professional certifications, market pay, and demand for the role. Ocean Media reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
