What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Manager position at Ocean Marine Group?
Rapidly growing Gulfport, MS boat dealer is seeking a qualified candidate to effectively manage all aspects of boat service and parts. The Service Manager will oversee all aspects of communication with vendors and distributors, delivering new boats, answering customer calls and troubleshooting warranty issues.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day service operations including scheduling and distribution of work for service technicians, vendors, and yard teams, utilizing in-house systems and other tools as required to generate and manage service tickets
Handle and resolve complex customer requests or complaints
Initiate and track service issues to completion
Oversee the hiring, training, and development of service technicians
Manage and promote the flow of information within the organization and to customers
Provide technical product expertise as required
Perform PDI on new vessels when they arrive from manufacturer and report any quality or defects to manufacture within specified timeframe
Coordinate new deliveries with customer(s) and train on specialized systems
Coordinate with the manufacturer and/or extended warranty companies to get approval in advance of repairs, if required, and take precautions necessary to guarantee our payment including but not limited to pictures of the work and returning parts replaced.
Experience and skills
In-depth marine product knowledge, repair techniques and maintenance requirements
Familiar with best practices, concepts, and processes in the service management field
Problem-solving skills, especially in situations of high stress
Rely on critical thinking and experience to plan and accomplish goals
Strong customer service skills in the areas of handling disputes and treating customers with care
Ability to effectively multi-task several jobs at once
Ability to motivate others on a team and help them succeed
Work well with diverse personalities
Education and experience requirements
3 or more years in marine service-related management capacity
Advanced mechanical/electrical background preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
