Sr. Database Administrator
POSITION SUMMARY
The Sr. Database Administrator installs, monitors, and maintains the company's database infrastructure. This position ensures the database infrastructure meets the business needs of the future and plans accordingly. In addition, this position provides guidance to the System Administration team and works with IT leadership to maintain IT policies and procedures.

- Reports to: Manager, IT Infrastructure

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages the maintenance, installation, and upgrades of the enterprise database install base including Oracle and MSSQL.
- Develops and implements backup and recovery strategies to meet business and disaster recovery needs and ensures compliance.
- Monitors database performance, troubleshoots and resolves database issues, and informs end users of status.
- Establishes, implements, and enforces database policies, procedures, and standards according to information systems and company objectives.
- Works with the System Administrators to support the database requirements of new systems.
- Works with the Security Operations Center (SOC) to detect vulnerabilities and ensure patching.
- Maintains database security and creates user accounts.
- Strictly adheres to change control policies.
- Ensures installations meet and follow vendor licensing requirements and implements controls for enforcement.
- Periodically tests backups and recovery, and refreshes development and QA environments.
- Works with IT leadership to develop database strategies to support the company's needs.
- Consults and advises users on databases.
- Provides guidance to less experienced employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Internal Positions:
- Provides assistance to company employees and leadership.

External Relationships:
- Manages database related purchases and IT supplies through approved vendors.
- Coordinates with vendors for support and installations.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a related area required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
- Oracle Certified Administrator required.
- Oracle Certified Professional preferred.
Experience:
- Seven (7) years of related experience using Oracle database required.
- Three (3) years of MSSQL experience required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Proficient in RMAN and MSSQL backups.
- Working knowledge of Linux, KVM, and Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM).
- Thorough knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft license requirements.
- Excellent project management skills.

Working Conditions:
- This is primarily an inside position with usual office conditions including prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Some work outside normal schedule may be required.
- Occasional lifting up to twenty (20) pounds required.
- Must maintain valid driver's license.
- Must wear personal protective equipment as appropriate.
Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
