School Bus Driver/Van Driver (Ocean Beach)

We have one vacancy in the Ocean Beach School District area. The person in this role will work 40 hours per week, on a school year schedule. Apply today, train this summer, and start in the fall! General Responsibilities Reporting directly to the Director of Specialized Transportation, the School Bus Driver will transport students with disabilities on "to and from school" routes. Our fleet contains smaller buses which means smaller passenger counts. Salary: The full hourly range for School Bus Drivers will be $29.59 - $33.73. Offers are made at the entry level of the range. Candidates that must complete full driver training will receive a substitute driver pay to start. We are also recruiting for Substitute Drivers. The full hourly range for Substitute School Bus Drivers will be $27.41 - $27.95. Offers are made at the entry level of the range. We are recruiting for drivers for Clark, Cowlitz, and Klickitat counties . We will consider a Van Driver position to start, but the person in this role must work towards CDL licensure with School Bus Driver and Passenger endorsements. Van Driver hourly compensation is $24.64 - $28.36. Offers are made at the entry level of the range. Regular attendance required: This role relies on regular and reliable attendance to ensure consistency for our students and help support a positive environment. 1. Operate a school bus in accordance with the State of Washington laws and policies promulgated by the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
2. Maintain accurate and legible records of daily bus logs and other required documents.
3. Establish and maintain effective and cooperative communication with students, parents, school staff, peers, and supervisors.
4. Supervise and maintain control of students.
5. Participate in staff meetings, inservice programs, workshops, and seminars.
6. Drive school bus on scheduled routes and/or all trips and approved activities, both within and outside district boundaries.
7. Inspect, clean, and request maintenance service for school bus and related equipment as required by ESD 112 policy.
8. Report unsafe acts or conditions which require the attention of any person other than the driver.
9. Read and interpret maps and street guides.
10. Maintain regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.

1. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills Minimum Qualifications: Meet and continue to meet minimum school bus driver requirements pursuant to WAC 392-144-101 including but not limited to:

1. Minimum age 21.
2. One year experience as a driver of a truck or commercial vehicle or at least three years of experience as a driver of a passenger vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

1. One year experience in transporting students with disabilities.
2. Authorized Washington State school bus driver.
3. Work or volunteer experience with preschool-12th grade children.

Working Conditions/Employment Requirements Working Conditions:

1. Operates school bus under a variety of road conditions.
2. Strength and ability to assist students with physical disabilities in embarking and disembarking a bus; including moving and positioning special needs equipment.
3. Travel to school districts to cover routes.
4. Regular attendance during schedule work hours.

Employment Requirements:

1. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through Washington State Patrol and FBI.
2. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a valid state class 'C' commercial driver's license with passenger and school bus endorsement and air brake restriction removed, according to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Part 391 regulations.
3. Possess current Washington state school bus driver authorization (WAC 392-144-101).

Salary : $24 - $33
