The Print Manager oversees all aspects of print operations, ensuring efficient and high-quality production.The print manager will be in control of managing schedules, coordinating with other production departments to ensure print projects are on scheduled and ready when needed for laser and lettershop departments, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.The print manager will control paper inventory and improve efficiencies by minimizing waste and maximizing the use of each sheet, this involves optimizing press setup, reducing errors, and carefully considering paper allowances for finishing processes.The manager will identify weaknesses withing the current staff,  QC processes, print estimates, paper quality, vendor pool, print work order/instructions from customer service staff,  inventory tracking and control, and workflows to identify areas that need improvement.Manager will create targeted and measurable workflows and procedures. In some cases, collaboration from other department managers will be required. Key Responsibilities of the Print Manager:   Production Management: Overseeing the entire print production process, from pre-press to final product delivery.Consulting and collaborating with other departments: Making recommendations during quoting stage to ensure jobs are priced correctly.Equipment Maintenance: Ensuring and logging regular maintenance of printing equipment to prevents costly breakdowns and minimize production delays.Scheduling and Coordination: Managing production schedules, coordinating with designers, vendors, and other departments to ensure timely and efficient production.Quality Control: Ensuring the quality of printed materials, including color accuracy, sharpness, and adherence to client specifications. Paper needs for different jobs: Choosing the right paper type, size and finish to ensure excellent print quality, and overall efficiency.Vendor Relations: Building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors to ensure reliable supply and competitive pricing.Inventory Management: Keeping track of paper, and raw material inventory.Purchasing: Place orders for paper, ink, raw materials, parts, and other items as needed for print department.Budget Management: Managing the printing budget, including negotiating with vendors for cost-effective solutions.Team Leadership: Supervising and training print production staff, ensuring they meet performance standards and safety regulations.Staying Current: Keeping abreast of the latest printing technologies and trends to improve efficiency and quality.Problem Solving: Troubleshooting technical issues, resolving production problems, and implementing process improvements.Paper Storage: Proper storage conditions are crucial to maintain the quality of paper and prevent issues like curling or damage that could lead to wasteSkills Required:   Technical Knowledge: Expertise in various printing processes, equipment, and software.Management and Leadership: Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise a team of pressmen.Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with designers, clients, and vendors.Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve production problems quickly and efficiently.Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to ensure the high quality of printed materials.Financial Management: Strong financial management practices, including understanding and managing costs, are crucial for profitability in the printing industry.Employee TrainingCustomer Service
