Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake by collecting comprehensive medical histories and documenting vital signs accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures, including medication administration, X-ray preparation, and basic life support (BLS) protocols.
- Support clinical operations by preparing examination rooms, sterilizing equipment, and managing inventory of medical supplies.
- Conduct routine diagnostic tasks such as measuring vital signs, collecting specimens, and assisting with ECGs or other diagnostic tests.
- Manage administrative duties including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, coding diagnoses with ICD codes, and updating patient records efficiently.
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in various specialties such as dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, or emergency medicine to deliver comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient or inpatient settings; hospital experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding standards, and medication administration protocols.
- Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation and data management.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as X-ray tech or OR experience are advantageous.
- Hands-on experience supporting dermatology clinics, urgent care centers, trauma hospitals (Level I & II trauma centers), PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or medical-surgical units is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient service excellence; ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced environments like emergency medicine or hospital settings.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for long periods, lifting supplies or equipment safely, and maintaining attention to detail during clinical procedures.
