Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations, vital signs, and medical history reviews using electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
  • Prescribe medications and treatment plans in accordance with collaborative practice agreements and DEA regulations, ensuring safe drug administration and documentation.
  • Perform diagnostic evaluations, interpret laboratory results, imaging studies, and diagnostic tests such as ultrasound or radiology reports to inform clinical decisions.
  • Manage acute and chronic conditions across various specialties including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, critical care, geriatrics, pediatrics, and infectious disease care.
  • Assist in procedures such as suturing, injection administration (including botulinum toxin treatments), airway management, ventilator support, and other invasive interventions within scope of practice.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals across disciplines—nurses, physicians, specialists—to coordinate patient care plans and ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Participate in clinical research trials or quality improvement initiatives to advance evidence-based practices and enhance patient safety standards.

Skills

  • Extensive experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for documentation and data management.
  • Proficiency in performing physical examinations, medical terminology interpretation, diagnostic test interpretation (ICD-10/ICD-9 coding), and medical records management.
  • Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical treatment protocols across multiple specialties including hospital medicine and emergency medicine.
  • Skilled in performing procedures like suturing, phlebotomy, IV infusion therapy, dialysis access management, NG tube placement, and dermal filler administration.
  • Critical care experience in ICU or Level I/II trauma centers with expertise in airway management, ventilator support (including neonatal ventilators), cardiac catheterization procedures, and infection control protocols.
  • Ability to conduct triage assessments in urgent care or outpatient settings while managing acute pain or post-operative recovery.
  • Knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes along with ICD coding standards; familiarity with HIPAA compliance for patient confidentiality.
