What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Biller and Coder position at OC Medical Center?
Family Practice office in Brea has an immediate opening for an EXPERIENCED medical biller/coder.
RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
-Review and bill current claims within timely filing limits.
-Understanding of CPT and ICD 10-coding systems.
-Review medical record documentation to identify all services provided by physicians.
-Post both insurance and patient payments.
-Actively work denied or delinquent accounts to maximize collections. This includes but is not limited to; searching for lacking insurance information, rebilling claims to insurance carriers, billing patients, filing appeals and provider disputes.
-Respond to patient inquiries.
-Follow up on open claims
-Help with heavy phones during peak hours.
-Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-To qualify for this position, you must have at least two year of prior experience with coding and billing. Experience with family practice or internal medicine billing is ideal.
-Knowledge of HMOs, PPOs, IPAs, Medi-Cal, and Medicare.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Medical Billing Software EHR .
-Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
-The ideal candidate will have completed their certification in billing and or/coding.
