Duties
- Take dogs on engaging walks that promote exercise, mental stimulation, and good behavior.
- Provide pet sitting services including feeding, administering medication, cleaning, litter boxes, etc.
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques and animal handling skills to ensure their comfort and safety.
- Monitor pet behavior closely to identify signs of distress or health issues, communicating with owners as necessary.
- Maintain a clean environment by cleaning up after pets during walks or visits.
- Communicate effectively with clients about their pet’s needs, habits, and any concerns observed during visits.
Qualifications
Candidates must be available one or both weekend days as well as some evenings during the week. Candidates must also have reliable transportation to get to and from visits. This is a subcontracted job, paid per visit.
- Ability to walk for 30 minutes and up to an hour, repeatedly during the day. Ability to restrain large dogs.
- Knowledge of pet care routines including feeding, medication administration, and outdoor exercise.
- Strong animal handling skills with an understanding of animal behavior and restraint techniques.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, snow, and rain.
- Excellent client communication skills to build trust and ensure clear updates about pets’ well-being.
- A genuine love for animals combined with a proactive attitude to provide exceptional pet care services.
