Maintenance Worker Helper NA-05.

Duties

Performs a variety of trades and craft duties involving maintenance, repair and improvement of facilities. Duties require the use of trade practices associated with carpentry, painting, and laboring work. The incumbent may also be required to operate a motor vehicle.

• Assists in the preventative maintenance program for guestrooms
• Assists in the maintenance and repair of building interiors. Patches and paints walls, replaces faucet washers, light bulbs and fuses. Un-stops sinks and toilet bowls. Hangs electrical fixtures and repairs screens and storm sashes. Makes minor repairs to furniture and woodwork. May occasionally assist in moving furniture or refinishing the appearance.
• Assists in the maintenance and repair of building exteriors. Prepares surfaces for painting by applying by applying sealing compounds and primers. Finishes rough edges, smoothing them with file, emery cloth and sandpaper. Paints when surfaces are ready. Sets up and adjusts ladders and scaffolding. Carries, lifts and holds materials in position during the repair operation. Nails loose boards and replaces window glass.
• The incumbent may be required to operate a motor vehicle to and from worksite to transport material and personnel. If required to operate a motor vehicle, prepares trip tickets, performs driver's daily maintenance and reports any major repairs needed to supervisor.

• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position

• One year probationary period may be required
• A physical examination is required
• Must be able to obtain a Tier 1 background investigation.
• Must be able to work weekdays, weekends, holidays and various hours of the day and week when required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license

• This job is open to candidates who live in this commuting area (the Island of Oahu). If determined that area of consideration is to be expanded, all candidates will be considered. If you reside outside of the local commuting area, relocation costs will be at your expense.

• Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based upon a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
  
  

Allowances and Differentials:

• This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
• Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
