Duties

  • Process flight plans, conducting necessary research and/or queries in the coordination of scheduled flights.
  • Assist the Airfield Manager with airfield facilities, airfield construction plans and projects.
  • Schedule airfield activities with tenant and transient aviation units requiring use of the airfield.
  • Perform airfield inspections/checks for conditions, physical security, and force protection to ensure a safe airfield environment
  • Provide direct oversight of multiple employees on assigned duty shifts days or nights.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential.
  • This position requires irregular hours of work, and rotating shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays with high periods of stress. Subject to changes in shift assignments following regulated notice periods.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • A valid drivers license is required throughout this appointment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) requirement or business travel occasionally.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Flight line Driver’s License per AR 95-2 throughout this appointment.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: Have one year of specialized experience which includes the following. 1) Process flight plans or conduct necessary research or queries in the coordination of scheduled flights; 2) research or evaluate airfield data or information such as airfield facilities, construction plans/changes for the airfield, or priority adjustments; 3) and process or approve/disapprove things such as prior permission requirements (PPR), civil aircraft landing permits (CALPs), and Army aircraft landing authorization numbers (AALAN). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Air Traffic Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
