Duties

  • Develop annual environmental work plans and funding for projects under the direction of the Senior Environmental Protection Specialist.
  • Formulate and develop implementing policies and procedures to provide solutions to resolve unique environmental issues within IMCOM assets.
  • Provide overall environmental program direction to generators in the life-cycle management of IMCOM acquired materials and systems encompassing development, testing, production, usage, storage and disposal.
  • Analyze effectiveness of programs and develop policies and procedures to increase the benefits obtained.
  • Prepare, review, analyze, and determine acceptability of environmental documents, to include: manifests, disposal records, inspection records, analytical test results, etc.
  • Develop and provide environmental requirements for inclusion into regulatory documents, acquisition documents, specifications, test plans, type classification documents, and material release documents.
  • Interpret numerous laws, regulations, directives, and policies received from Federal, state, and local environmental agencies for administration of the environmental program elements.
  • Conduct environmental inspections, surveys, studies, and prepare applicable reports for management and operating officials.
  • Prepare and conduct training sessions, workshops, and other activities for clients to maintain conformance with environmental regulations.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing policies and procedures for solutions to unique environmental issues; overseeing protocols that implement Federal, State, and local laws/guidelines; providing advice to the organization and tenant activities on the use and interpretation of new environmental regulations that affect their mission with an organization; analyzing numerous federal, state, and local laws to provide advice to leadership and tenant organizations on various media, such as clean air, water resources management, hazardous and toxic materials, and/or resource conservation and recovery; and reviewing projects to identify potential environmental regulatory and permit requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
