Job Overview
This position ensures that routine maintenance and repairs are performed accurately and efficiently across all district buildings to keep them in optimal working condition. In addition to the buildings, maintenance is responsible for the upkeep of the grounds.

DUTIES

• Responsible for equipment and building security.
• Works within occupational health and life safety codes and on-the-job standards in the handling of equipment.
• Repair, replace, or reassemble defective equipment using hand and power tools.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines and equipment continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
• Perform routine maintenance, including inspecting drives, motors, and belts; checking fluid levels; and replacing filters, following standard checklists.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed, including costs associated with each.
• Establish and recommend repair project priorities.
• Inspect work and assist other staff members to complete jobs.
• Inspect, operate, and test machinery in order to detect mechanical problems.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them using blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
• Review work orders and check drawings and plans.
• Develop and maintain an efficient system for handling emergency repair issues.
• Responsible for lawn maintenance, including mowing, landscaping, and snow removal.
• Shovels, snow plows, and salts walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate for safety.
• Observe and follow all safety regulations to ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements.
• Order materials as needed and make recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase.
• Instruct custodians on proper procedures and the use of tools and equipment used in repair and maintenance work.
• Does major repairs/work on electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and roofs that cannot be done by custodians.
• Advise on the hiring of contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair services.
• Consult with building principals to establish regular preventive maintenance programs.
• Fills in for custodians when necessary.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and District Administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 2-5 years of experience in building maintenance and repair, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing.
• Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
• Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
• Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to push and pull up to 40 lbs.

SCHEDULING

The schedule is subject to change with the time of year and district demands, 260 days per year. Overtime is required when requested.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
