Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Dietary Supervisor to join our skilled nursing team. The ideal candidate will be a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) with a current Certified Food Protection Professional (CFPP) credential (or be working toward getting that certification) and a passion for providing high-quality nutritional services to our residents.
Position Summary
The Dietary Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dietary department, ensuring residents receive nutritious, appealing meals while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role supervises dietary staff, manages food service operations, and promotes a safe, sanitary, and resident-centered dining experience.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and schedule dietary department staff.
- Ensure meals are prepared and served according to physician orders, therapeutic diets, and resident preferences.
- Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards.
- Monitor kitchen operations to ensure quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with menu planning, food purchasing, inventory control, and cost management.
- Train, coach, and evaluate dietary employees.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including nursing and dietary consultants, to support residents' nutritional needs.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by state and federal regulations.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Required: Current Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) credential or willing to get it while employed.
- Required: Current Certified Food Protection Professional (CFPP) certification willing to get it while employed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in nutrition, food service management, or related field preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or skilled nursing setting preferred.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food safety regulations, and long-term care dietary requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
