Field Service Technician
The Field Service Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of recycling equipment (balers, conveyors, and shredders), including hydraulic and electrical components. This position works independently or in teams to ensure the highest level of quality and customer service satisfaction. The Field Service Technician will work primarily at customer sites, although some work will be done at OBC Industrial in Strongsville, OH
Travel is required and is typically by company vehicle.
Essential Job Functions:
- Travel to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all recycling equipment and controls for customer organizations
- Utilize recycling equipment manuals, technical documents, internal, and vendor resources to research machine issues
- Complete and submit proper documentation related to the status of the machine issues, repairs, and/or installations to the company office as well as customers
- Promote and perform preventative maintenance on customer recycling equipment
- Conduct after-sales technical support and machine maintenance training for customers
- Maintain and develop an in-depth knowledge of the recycling equipment industry and product lines represented by the company
Work Environment:
This role requires working both indoors within a manufacturing plant and occasionally outdoors. Environments can range from cold and dry to hot and humid. The manufacturing area may be noisy and contain stimuli such as flashing lights and strong odors.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Excellent technical, communication and presentation skills
- Ability and willingness to learn
- High School Diploma/GED Preferred
- Driver's License with clean driving record required for Insurance/DOT Clearance
- Customer service experience with organized and professional attitude
- Welding experience, preferred
- Excellent technical, communications, and presentation skills
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel
- Willingness to wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices both of OBC Industrial and the Customer Locations as required
- Ability to pass a background check
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision.
