Oaxaka is looking for a dependable, hardworking kitchen professional to join our team in a dual-role Prep Cook / Line Cook position. We are a fast-paced, chef-driven restaurant known for our unique fusion of Mexican and Asian flavors, featuring tacos, bowls, burritos, and innovative Mexican-Asian fusion dishes made with fresh ingredients.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both prep work and working the line during service, takes pride in quality and consistency, and thrives in a team-oriented environment.
ResponsibilitiesPrep Cook Duties
- Prepare vegetables, proteins, sauces, and other ingredients according to recipes and specifications
- Maintain proper food storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO)
- Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries
- Keep prep areas clean, organized, and sanitized
- Ensure all stations are stocked and service-ready
Line Cook Duties
- Prepare menu items accurately and efficiently during service
- Maintain quality, consistency, and presentation standards
- Work multiple stations as needed
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
Qualifications
- 3 year of kitchen experience preferred
- Experience as a prep cook, line cook, or both
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency
- Team-oriented attitude and reliability
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Food Handler certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
