Position Overview: Microbiology Laboratory Manager
As the Laboratory Manager, you will assume a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating the multifaceted operations of the laboratory. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide spectrum of tasks, ranging from the maintenance of laboratory facilities to ensuring the precision and efficiency of quality testing for microbial fermentation cultures and bacterial culture collections. In addition, you will play a critical role in upholding compliance standards and managing the inventory of laboratory reagents and supplies. A core aspect of this role involves collaborative engagement in the advancement of microbial probiotic products.
Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Operations Management:
Supervise and lead the day-to-day activities within the laboratory.
Maintain the functionality and cleanliness of laboratory spaces and equipment.
Oversee inventory management and procurement of reagents and supplies.
Ensure the continuous updating of databases and documentation.
Quality Testing and Culture Collection:
Implement and oversee protocols for accurate and efficient quality testing of microbial fermentation cultures.
Manage the bacterial culture collection, ensuring preservation and accessibility.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of culture and testing procedures.
Compliance and Regulatory Standards:
Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and safety protocols.
Foster a culture of compliance with respect to laboratory protocols and procedures.
Microbial Probiotic Product Development:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to the development of microbial probiotic products.
Utilize your expertise to drive the progression of these products from concept to realization.
Microbial Isolation and Characterization:
Apply your extensive knowledge of microbial isolation and characterization techniques.
Contribute to the identification and selection of optimal microbial strains for probiotic applications.
Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs):
Develop, refine, and implement SOPs for quality control, fermentation, and production scale-up.
Ensure consistent execution of procedures to maintain product integrity.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
Manage the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Troubleshoot technical issues to minimize downtime and disruptions.
Qualifications and Skills:
A solid background in microbiology, fermentation, and laboratory management.
Proven experience in microbial isolation, culture collection maintenance, and characterization.
