Dental Insurance & Treatment Coordinator
$23–$31 per hour | Part-Time or Full-Time | Vancouver, WA
Job Summary
We are a busy, patient-focused private dental practice in Vancouver, WA looking for an experienced Dental Insurance & Treatment Coordinator to join our team.
We're looking for someone who understands the dental front office, is comfortable working with dental insurance and treatment plans, and genuinely enjoys helping patients.
The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and able to take initiative and follow through without needing constant direction. You'll play an important role in helping patients understand their insurance benefits, treatment recommendations, and financial responsibilities while also helping our front office run smoothly.
This is not an entry-level position. We're looking for someone with dental front-office experience who can become a knowledgeable and reliable part of our team.
Responsibilities
- Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits and complete accurate benefit breakdowns
- Obtain pre-authorizations and pre-treatment estimates when needed
- Submit and follow up on dental insurance claims and outstanding claims
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim and benefit issues
- Explain dental insurance benefits and coverage to patients
- Present treatment plans and clearly communicate estimated patient portions and out-of-pocket costs
- Help patients understand treatment recommendations and financial options
- Follow up with patients regarding outstanding treatment
- Answer phones and provide friendly, professional patient service
- Schedule patients efficiently and help maintain a productive schedule
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding patient balances
- Maintain accurate patient accounts, insurance information, and documentation
- Work closely with the doctor, clinical team, and other front-office team members
- Identify problems, take initiative, and help keep the front office running smoothly
Requirements
- At least 1 year of dental front-office experience required; 2 years strongly preferred
- Experience verifying dental insurance eligibility and benefits
- Experience completing dental insurance benefit breakdowns
- Experience presenting treatment plans and discussing estimated patient portions
- Strong understanding of dental insurance terminology and processes
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Comfortable discussing treatment costs and financial arrangements with patients
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Dependable and punctual
- Able to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on responsibilities
Preferred
- Open Dental experience
- Experience with dental insurance claims and aging reports
- Experience with patient account collections
- Strong treatment coordination experience
- Experience with insurance pre-authorizations and outstanding claim follow-up
Flexible Schedule — Part-Time or Full-Time
We know that experienced dental professionals don't all want the same schedule.
We're open to both part-time and full-time candidates and have flexibility in creating a schedule that works well for both you and our office.
If you're an experienced dental professional looking for fewer hours, shorter shifts, or a later start time, we'd still love to hear from you. Start times around 8:30–9:00 AM may be possible.
Reliability and consistency with your agreed-upon schedule are essential.
Compensation
$23–$31 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skills.
Compensation within the range will reflect your dental insurance knowledge, treatment coordination experience, overall front-office skills, and ability to work independently.
Candidates with extensive dental insurance and treatment coordination experience who are able to step into the position with minimal training may qualify toward the higher end of the range.
