Job Summary:
The Orchard/Vineyard Production Manager is responsible for assisting in all phases of the growing operation to ensure maximum efficiency and profitability. Long-term career opportunity at a fast-paced, diverse farm in Prosser, WA. Five years Ag Experience is required. B.S. in Horticulture/Ag. is required.
Job Responsibilities:
The Orchard/Vineyard Production Manager is expected to work as a team with all departments at Oasis Farms to help the success of Oasis Farms. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Grows a sustainable and profitable crop.
2. Ensures that best farming practices are consistent with food safety regulations/guidelines and that Oasis is in compliance with relevant certification requirements.
3. Responsible for establishing efficient and effective management and production procedures.
4. Efficient execution of production tasks, while providing ongoing training/education to appropriate coworkers.
5. Develops a written management plan for the current and outgoing years, that encompasses agronomic, personnel and equipment planning processes, in coordination with appropriate employees.
6. Executes tasks within the parameters of the budget and/or alerts the appropriate manager of the difference.
7. Responsible for in field functions (planting, field establishment/maintenance, pest scouting/control, pesticide applications/spray programs, weed control and pruning, fertility, irrigation, etc.) while developing and maintaining accurate notes for each field.
8. Manages the Supervisor of crew operations before, during and after harvest activities (oversight of picking crews, general field laborers, truck drivers and forklift operators, etc.).
9. Represents Oasis Farms Inc. at sales, seminars, and horticulture meetings and other designated functions that require corporate presence.
Skills required to advance:
The Orchard/Vineyard Production Manager will have knowledge in the agricultural and farming industry and must have thorough knowledge of agricultural practices, aptitude for working with a variety of berries, strong communication and leadership skills. The candidate contributes the following competencies:
· Skillset with permanent crop horticulture and effective time-management and organizational skills.
· Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, and labor relations.
· Knowledge of the production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing crop output.
· Ability to motivate, develop and direct employees as they work (coordination of people and resources).
· Skill and ability to evaluate and communicate systems (identify indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve/correct performance) to supervisors, peers or subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail or in person.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Permanent Crop Horticulture, Agronomy or Production Management is desired. Previous experience is required.

While performing the duties of this assignment, the employee is regularly required to endure the following physical requirements:
· Physical requirements include working extended hours (seasonally), working outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
· Working around equipment and machinery on a routine basis.
· The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
· Use hands and fingers to grasp, move, or assemble objects; bend, stretch, twist, or reach out.
