Description:

JOB TITLE: Weekend Evening Residential Counselor (Part-time)

PROGRAM AREA: Emergency Shelter

FSLA STATUS: Non-Exempt 

JOB OBJECTIVE: To provide case management services to clients assigned and maintain daily tasks of the shelter program. 

Salary: 18K-20K (Includes paid time off)

Schedule: Saturday & Sunday: 12pm – 10pm, Tuesdays: 2pm – 4pm


Direct Service

Essential Functions:

  •   Provide supervision for shelter residents.  
  •   Coordinate and supervise activities for residents on weekends and as assigned.
  •   Provide intake and assessment services to youth and families referred to the shelter program.
  •   Provide group services when appropriate or assigned.
  •   Facilitate the referral process for potential clients.
  •   Attend weekly and quarterly Shelter staff meetings.
  •   Attend Oasis All Staff meetings if schedule allows.
  •   Attend regular supervisions.
  •   Document client interaction in a consistent and ethical manner.
  •   Provide crisis counseling services through the agency coverage system.
  • Provide liaison and referral services with appropriate mental health centers, courts, physicians, school systems, Department of Children’s Services and others as needed.
  • Transport clients as needed.
  • Conduct monthly Relief Staff meetings and trainings.
  •   Related tasks as assigned.

Operational

  • Manage process to ensure that needed maintenance repairs are completed.
  • Maintain the program petty cash account. 
  • Related tasks as assigned.  

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Intervene in crisis situations with residents when necessary.

Administration

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain consistent and timely records, including relevant reports to meet funding and licensing requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation for monitoring visits by funding and licensing sources.
  • Collect data on residents as assigned.
  • Prepare files on residents as assigned.
  • Participate in the hiring process and orientation of new staff when appropriate.
  • Participate in staff and program development.


Non-Essential Functions:

  • Serve on intra-agency committees when requested or representation is significant to the agency mission.




Requirements:

Minimal Requirements / Performance Standards:

  • Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.
  • Ability to monitor client interaction visually and auditorily.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply positive youth development. 
  • Knowledge and ability to apply trauma informed care approach. 
  • Knowledge and ability to apply behavior management techniques.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply basic counseling principals.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply group work theory.
  • Knowledge and ability to access community resources.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply crisis intervention theory.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • One-year relevant experience in a related field with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
