Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate nursing staff to ensure seamless delivery of patient care across all shifts.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews.
- Oversee medication administration, IV infusion procedures, catheter care, and wound management following best practices.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document medical records accurately and efficiently.
- Supervise clinical activities such as specimen collection/processing, diagnostic evaluations, and medical documentation compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and triage to optimize patient outcomes.
- Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed and maintain sterile processing standards.
- Provide guidance on complex cases involving Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, pain management, or acute trauma situations including Level I/II trauma center procedures.
- Support staff training on advanced skills like airway management, ventilator use, catheterization, or suturing techniques.
- Promote a culture of safety by monitoring vital signs, conducting physical examinations, and assessing patient physiology knowledge regularly.
Experience
- Valid RN or LVN license with current state licensure required; additional certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
- Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU or emergency medicine; hospital or trauma center experience highly valued.
- Demonstrated expertise working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring hospice or memory care services.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks; proficiency in ICD-9/10 coding and medical terminology essential.
- Hands-on experience with IV insertion, phlebotomy, medication administration via injections or IV lines, and aseptic techniques required.
- Knowledge of complex medical procedures such as cardiac catheterization or spinal taps is advantageous.
- Strong assessment skills in acute pain management, infectious disease care, trauma response protocols, and post-acute care planning preferred.
