Oakwood School is hiring a Front Office Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our school community and the operational hub of daily school life. Oakwood serves bright students in grades 1-8 with learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and ADHD.
About the Role
This position manages the front office and provides administrative and tracking support across school leadership departments, from records and hiring tracking to ordering and supply management, events, and communications support. This role also serves as backup support to the school nurse for clinic coverage as needed.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as the welcoming first point of contact for visitors, families, and staff
- Manage front office operations, including phones, mail, and visitor and security protocols
- Support student records, attendance tracking, and the school’s information system
- Support hiring, onboarding, and staff records
- Manage school-wide ordering and supply coordination, including keeping supply areas and shared spaces organized
- Support school and community events, programs, and communications
- Serve as trained backup to the School Nurse for clinic coverage
What We're Looking For
Someone who is warm and welcoming, efficient and organized, detail-oriented with strong written and oral communication skills, and who brings a strong sense of integrity and discretion.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license
- 2-3 years working in an office setting as the first point of contact for client communications and interactions
- Ability to pass state/federal background checks required to work with students in an elementary/middle school setting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Experience operating and troubleshooting standard office equipment (printers, copiers, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-3 years working in a school, nonprofit, or education-related setting
- Experience using FACTS, Bloomerang, Finalsite, or similar student information and CRM systems
Schedule
This is a full-time, 12-month, salaried, exempt position based in Annandale, Virginia. Standard hours are 8:00 am-4:00 pm. Hours shift to 8:00 am-1:00 pm during Oakwood School’s spring break, winter break, and the month of July.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $58,000-$68,000, commensurate with experience. Oakwood offers a comprehensive benefits package; details will be shared with candidates during the interview process.
Physical and Environmental Considerations
This position requires the ability to sit, stand, move about campus, and lift up to approximately 25-30 lbs, along with the ability to operate standard office equipment and respond promptly in clinic or emergency situations, with or without reasonable accommodation, in accordance with the ADA and Virginia Human Rights Act.
