What are the responsibilities and job description for the School and District Nurse for Oakwood City Schools position at Oakwood City Schools?
Oakwood is seeing a District School Nurse to coordinate and deliver health services across all schools within the district. The position plays a vital role in supporting student wellness, promoting a healthy school environment, and providing leadership for the district’s health services. The District Nurse will work in collaboration with fellow nurses, administrators, staff, and community health professionals to meet the physical, mental and emotional health needs of students.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing services to students and staff including first aid, illness assessment and chronic condition management for the junior and senior high students
Provide direct nursing care and health assessments to students across the district.
Administer medications and monitor for side effects according to physician’s orders and school policy.
Oversee health related policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure consistent practices in all buildings.
Serve as primary contact for the infectious disease prevention, management and communication with public health departments
Maintainaccurate student health records in accordance with state and federal laws
Develop and implement health care plans for students with specific medical needs
Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, etc) and follow-up referrals
Maintain supplies and equipment necessary for health services
Support attendance and wellness initiatives through data-informed interventions and outreach
Qualifications:
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio required
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
Ohio Department of Education and Workforce School Nurse License preferred
CPR, AED and First Aid Certification required
