Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our coaching staff as an Assistant Track Coach for the Oakville Middle School/High School. This seasonal position is ideal for someone passionate about track and field, with a desire to inspire and develop student-athletes. The Assistant Track Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to promote a positive and competitive environment while fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth among athletes.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach in planning and implementing daily practice sessions, ensuring a focus on skill development, technique, and conditioning.
- Support the recruitment and retention of student-athletes by promoting the benefits of track and field participation.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to athletes, helping them set and achieve personal and team goals.
- Monitor and assess athlete performance, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
- Assist in organizing and supervising team events, including meets, practices, and team-building activities.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes during practices and competitions.
- Communicate regularly with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and athlete progress.
- Collaborate with other coaching staff to promote a cohesive and unified team culture.
- Uphold and enforce all school policies, rules, and regulations regarding athletics.
Requirements
- Previous experience in coaching or competing in track and field at the high school level or higher preferred.
- Strong knowledge of track and field techniques, rules, and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, athletes, and parents in a supportive team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to commit to the entire season, including practices, meets, and team events.
