OakTruss Group is seeking a Senior Advisor, Artificial Intelligence to serve as a technical leader, advisor, and engineer/architect subject matter expert for artificial intelligence solutions. This individual will operate at both the strategic and hands-on engineering levels, helping design, guide, and deliver scalable AI systems with a strong emphasis on large language models (LLMs), data pipelines, and secure deployment architectures.
This role will engage directly with clients as both a high-level advisor and deep technical expert, translating business needs into practical, secure, and scalable AI solutions. Internally, this person will partner with leadership, PMO, and cross-functional teams to advance AI capabilities that align with company strategy.

Key responsibilities
- Design and implement end-to-end AI systems, including data ingestion, model integration, orchestration layers, and user-facing applications
- Architect and oversee deployment of LLM-based solutions, including retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering frameworks, and fine-tuning strategies
- Build, manage, and optimize AI tools, APIs, and services across cloud and hybrid environments
- Ensure AI systems are scalable, reliable, secure, and aligned with governance expectations
- Serve as the technical authority on AI system design and implementation
- Provide architectural guidance and code-level oversight to engineering teams
- Mentor team members on AI engineering, LLMs, and system design principles
- Translate client requirements into technical architectures and implementation plans
- Lead technical discussions with executive stakeholders and engineering teams
- Lead technical execution of AI-related engagements in alignment with Statements of Work
- Collaborate with the Project Management Office and leadership to manage priorities, timelines, and resource allocation
- Identify and mitigate technical risks across projects
- Contribute to internal innovation, accelerators, intellectual property, and thought leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, or a related technical field preferred
- Master’s degree or higher preferred
- 8 years of professional experience, including:
- 5 years in software engineering, systems architecture, or platform engineering
- 3 years building and deploying AI/ML systems in production environments
- 2 years working with LLMs or advanced AI systems
- Consulting or client-facing technical experience preferred
Preferred technical experience
- Strong understanding of how LLMs work at a macro level, including transformers, embeddings, training vs. inference, and model limitations
- Hands-on experience building and managing AI tools, applications, and infrastructure
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar
- Experience with LLM ecosystems, including APIs, orchestration frameworks, and vector databases
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience with scalable deployment models such as containers, serverless environments, and microservices
- Familiarity with data engineering concepts, including ETL pipelines and data governance
- Understanding of security, privacy, and risk considerations in AI systems
