About the job

OakTruss Group is seeking a Senior Advisor, Artificial Intelligence to serve as a technical leader, advisor, and engineer/architect subject matter expert for artificial intelligence solutions. This individual will operate at both the strategic and hands-on engineering levels, helping design, guide, and deliver scalable AI systems with a strong emphasis on large language models (LLMs), data pipelines, and secure deployment architectures.

This role will engage directly with clients as both a high-level advisor and deep technical expert, translating business needs into practical, secure, and scalable AI solutions. Internally, this person will partner with leadership, PMO, and cross-functional teams to advance AI capabilities that align with company strategy.

This is an opportunity to join a growing company working at the intersection of AI and cybersecurity, alongside a stellar team of experts and within an environment where innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence matter.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and implement end-to-end AI systems, including data ingestion, model integration, orchestration layers, and user-facing applications
  • Architect and oversee deployment of LLM-based solutions, including retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering frameworks, and fine-tuning strategies
  • Build, manage, and optimize AI tools, APIs, and services across cloud and hybrid environments
  • Ensure AI systems are scalable, reliable, secure, and aligned with governance expectations
  • Serve as the technical authority on AI system design and implementation
  • Provide architectural guidance and code-level oversight to engineering teams
  • Mentor team members on AI engineering, LLMs, and system design principles
  • Translate client requirements into technical architectures and implementation plans
  • Lead technical discussions with executive stakeholders and engineering teams
  • Lead technical execution of AI-related engagements in alignment with Statements of Work
  • Collaborate with the Project Management Office and leadership to manage priorities, timelines, and resource allocation
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks across projects
  • Contribute to internal innovation, accelerators, intellectual property, and thought leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, or a related technical field preferred
  • Master’s degree or higher preferred
  • 8 years of professional experience, including:
  • 5 years in software engineering, systems architecture, or platform engineering
  • 3 years building and deploying AI/ML systems in production environments
  • 2 years working with LLMs or advanced AI systems
  • Consulting or client-facing technical experience preferred

Preferred technical experience

  • Strong understanding of how LLMs work at a macro level, including transformers, embeddings, training vs. inference, and model limitations
  • Hands-on experience building and managing AI tools, applications, and infrastructure
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar
  • Experience with LLM ecosystems, including APIs, orchestration frameworks, and vector databases
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with scalable deployment models such as containers, serverless environments, and microservices
  • Familiarity with data engineering concepts, including ETL pipelines and data governance
  • Understanding of security, privacy, and risk considerations in AI systems

Professional attributes

  • Ability to operate credibly at both strategic and highly technical levels
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong systems thinking and problem-solving ability
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while leading initiatives under pressure

Why join us

  • Opportunity to help shape the convergence of AI and cybersecurity
  • Growing company with meaningful opportunity for impact
  • Great benefits
  • Collaborative environment with a stellar team of experts
