Basic Function and Responsibility
Under general supervision from the User Support Services Manager, this is a hands-on role that directs, schedules, and coordinates technology support for special events and provides support for specialized event spaces across the college. Acts as the authority on the use of technology in Oakton's current collaborative and event spaces (conference rooms, meeting rooms, focus rooms, hybrid classrooms, etc.). This position coordinates with areas across the college as well as community rental partners to provide support for events. This position assumes delegated authority and oversight of the department in the absence of the User Support Services Manager.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative supervision is received from the Interim Director of User Support Services. Functional supervision is received from the Senior Manager of User Support Services, Des Plaines and Help Desk (Des Plaines Campus based position - C99684) OR the Senior Manager of User Support Services, Skokie, Evanston and Auxiliary Locations (Skokie Campus based position - C99891).
Supervision Exercised:
Functional supervision is exercised over student employees as needed. This includes the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of student employees.
Functional supervision is exercised over other IT personnel when coordinating events.

Qualifications and Working Conditions:
Work requires some lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and use of ladders. Mobility to move from building to building on-Campuses and travel between campuses and off-campus sites is required. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment. This position may require evening and weekend work to support college events.

HOURS: Monday - Friday 9:15 am - 6:00 pm
SALARY: Compensation will be commensurate with experience. The minimum starting salary is $34.00 per hour which equates to $68,519 annualized based on Oakton's summer hours schedule.
Based on the needs of the college and with Administrator approval, some positions at the college may have a hybrid schedule option available after 30 working days.

- Lead the coordination and delivery of all IT/AV services for internal and external events for the campus(es) or sites of their User Support Services area.
- Serve as the senior technical liaison between Information Technology and key business units (Academic Affairs, Marketing and others). Provide "white-glove" technical oversight for high-visibility events involving executive leadership and external VIPs.
- Coordinate for events, supervise any setup and teardown with technical teams, and orchestrate department-wide IT support efforts to ensure high-quality event experiences. This includes managing, scheduling, and troubleshooting live streams, web-based streaming, and video content capture for events.
- Set and update collaborative space standards in collaboration with other areas in User Support Services and IT. Analyze usage trends and emerging technologies to develop a multi-year refresh strategy for collaborative spaces. Supervise the operational integrity of all collaborative and event space environments, setting maintenance protocols and enforcing standardization.
- Follow asset management procedures for collaborative spaces and event equipment, including tracking and tagging equipment, disposal of obsolete equipment.
- Create documentation, instructions and general training materials for collaborative spaces, event spaces and event setup, and provide training on systems and setups. Translate complex technical processes into accessible user guides and training curricula that reduce support ticket volume and increase user proficiency across the campus.
- Support the media production spaces on campus.
- Monitor inventory and track usage of recorded video and/or audio media, assist with purchasing, and manage authorized licensing.
- Assist the User Support Services Manager with researching and developing technical specifications for capital equipment purchases for event and collaboration spaces; contribute to the annual departmental budget planning for technology infrastructure refresh cycles.
- Lead and manage small to medium-sized IT projects related to collaborative technology upgrades or media system implementations, including defining scope, managing timelines, coordinating with technical teams (e.g., Endpoint Technology, Networking, Help Desk), and overseeing a communication plan.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Working Conditions:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Educational Technology, Learning Technology, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems with a focus on hardware, or similar) or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired, is required.
- Four years of direct work experience supporting A/V technology and systems in event and collaboration spaces is required. Education may not be substituted.
- Two years' experience supporting video conferencing and lecture capture is required.
- Evidence of a basic understanding of networking as related to complex A/V and event support is required.
- Experience in a higher education is preferred.
- A high level of interpersonal and communication skills and excellent customer service skills.
- Supervisory experience is preferred.
- Project management experience is required.
