The Ashburnham-Westminster Regional School District is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Special Education Teacher for Oakmont Regional High School for the 2026–2027 school year.
The successful candidate will provide specialized instruction and support services to students with disabilities in both inclusion and substantially separate settings, while promoting academic achievement, independence, and social-emotional growth. Candidates should demonstrate strong collaboration skills and a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a growth mindset, have demonstrated experience building positive trusting relationships with students, contribute to the development of a healthy and safe environment and have a strong belief that all students can succeed.
Essential job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to to the following:
Provide direct classroom, small group and individual instruction.
Embed therapeutic strategies as part of content instruction to promote access for students with social emotional learning needs.
Utilize effective, proactive positive behavioral management skills and promote, model, develop and support positive behaviors and social-emotional development in all students.
Develop and implement behavior plans.
Responsible for data collection, conducting formative assessments and ongoing summative assessments to measure student growth, provide feedback and differentiate instruction.
Coordinate inclusion into general education classes as appropriate.
Partner with the program school adjustment counselor to co-lead small group interventions targeting social emotional skill building.
Establish and maintain home/school connections, collaborate with families on a consistent basis and promote family involvement.
Collaborate and consult with the BCBA, other special education teachers, related service providers, general education teachers, district teams and administrators.
Responsible for serving as liaison for an assigned caseload, chairing annual review team meetings, writing IEPs, progress reports, etc.
