What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Assistant Principal position at Oakmont Regional High School?
The Ashburnham-Westminster Regional School District is currently seeking a dynamic, experienced educational leader for the position of Assistant Principal at the Oakmont Regional High School. The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of instructional and educational leadership and be able to provide growth minded direction in a school committed to academic excellence, mutual respect, innovative critical thinking, and life-long learning for all students to prepare them for full participation in a global society.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess excellent communication skills, and have recent relevant experience in instruction and leadership. The Assistant Principal reports directly to the Principal and acts as a primary school leader in his/her absence. The Assistant Principal’s major duties are as follows:
Leadership:
Supervise and evaluates Professional and other Staff
Plan and Implement Student Transition Programs for Incoming Students
Work closely with School counseling and the Special Education Departments
Understanding of differentiated instruction, MTSS, Response to Intervention, student-learning
styles, and positive behavioral interventions including restorative practices.
Proven ability to successfully communicate with parents, teachers and members of the
community.
Administration:
Maintain and Publicize the Building Calendar and Facilities Schedule
Publish and keep up to date the Student Handbook, Program of Studies
Help facilitate all Standardized Testing and Analyze & Share data with appropriate staff and assist in developing plans to address concerns based on testing data.
Assist with the oversight of Curriculum Development, Course Scheduling, and Develop the Master Course Schedule
Manage Student Parking
Convene Initial Interview Teams
Assist the 504 coordinator when necessary
File Children in Need of Assistance (CRA) Petitions with the Courts
Student Engagement:
Supervise Cafeteria, Student arrival and Dismissal
Assist in Student Management and Discipline (shared with the other AP and the Principal)
Chaperone School Events as Needed
Establishes expectations for student learning performance, conduct, and attendance
Oakmont Regional High School is a comprehensive public high school serving the towns of Ashburnham and Westminster, MA. We received full accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. In addition to strong academic programs, we have distinguished accomplishments in visual arts, music, athletics, and robotics.
This position is a full year position determined by an individual employment contract. Current MA certification as a Principal, grades 9 - 12, is required.
