We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Bus Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing safe and reliable transportation services for children to be transported safely to and from our daycare center (Oakman Child Care and Development). This role requires punctuality, a clean driving record, and excellent service to both the parents and students alike. You must be able to meet the expectations of the schedule responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Must be able to work 4 hours per day (2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon).
- Must pass a Background Check
- This role is competitive-rate pay starting at $20 per hour.
- Must have a clean driving record
- Safely operate a bus or paratransit vehicle according to established routes and schedules.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children and staff during transit.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain effective communication with dispatchers, parents, and caregivers regarding schedules and any changes.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, providing support as needed.
- Manage passenger behavior in a positive manner to maintain a safe environment.
- Complete necessary paperwork, including incident reports and daily logs.
- Provide exceptional customer service while addressing any questions or concerns from passengers or their families.
- Clean inside and outside of the bus on an as-needed basis.
Qualifications
- Excellent driving record; ability to pass CDL licensing exam and subsequent school bus driver training.
- Mandatory Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) designations
- Complete an annual DOT physical and TB screen. Be certified in Child and Adult CPR and Basic First Aid.
- Pass comprehensive criminal history checks and maintain a clean driving record.
- Experience in bus driving or commercial driving preferred; school bus driving experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills in English
- Conducts daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections as required.
- Experience working with children or in childcare settings is beneficial.
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks is an advantage.
- Ability to manage behavior effectively towards the children
- One or more years of experience
- Ability to carry out assigned route on time
