Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medication Aide to join our dedicated healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications accurately following physician orders and facility protocols
- Monitor and record residents’ vital signs, medication effects, and overall health status
- Assist residents with personal care activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility support
- Maintain detailed medical documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner
- Support residents with specialized needs including Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, and hospice care
- Follow all HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality and protect sensitive medical records
- Collaborate with nursing staff to report changes in residents’ conditions and participate in care planning meetings
- Ensure compliance with state healthcare regulations and safety standards through manual handling and heavy lifting when necessary
- Assist with tube feeding, catheter care, and other medical procedures under supervision of licensed nursing staff
- Provide compassionate support to residents with developmental disabilities or those requiring assisted living services
Skills
- Proven experience working with geriatric patients in senior living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and basic life support (BLS) including CPR and first aid certifications
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks related to resident care
- Excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members, residents, and families
- Knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, memory care strategies, and behavior management techniques
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining resident confidentiality at all times
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges is highly valued
- Ability to adhere to state Board of Nursing requirements and healthcare regulations governing medication administration and patient safety
