Middle School Math/Science Teacher (26-27 SY)

The person in this position works under the supervision and direction of the building administrator and is responsible for teaching 6 - 8 grade students in the Science and Math content areas.  This individual must work cooperatively with other members of the staff to provide students optimal learning opportunities, as well as a well-planned, organized instructional program in a safe and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications Required

1. Current Oregon Teaching License with a Science and a Math endorsement;
2. Demonstrated positive classroom management skills and student-centered instructional skills;
3. Knowledge and skills in instruction/learning methods and techniques;
4. Knowledge and application of skills in teaching NGSS aligned curriculum and Common Core aligned Math curriculum and using assessment data;
5. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, administrators, students, parents, and patrons;
6. Ability to meet the Junction City School District Standards of Competent Teacher Performance and the Oregon Standards for Professional Educators;
7. Ability to perform computer skills and incorporate the use of technology in the classroom;
8. Responsibility to know, understand, and adhere to school rules and District policies;
9. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current first aid/CPR card.

Qualifications Desired

1. Experience in or ability to teach in the following area: Middle School Science and Middle School Math;
2. Experience teaching with Google Classroom;
3. Experience with experiential learning;
4. Experience with iReady/Ready;
5. Experience in or ability to teach in a middle school;
6. Knowledge of student portfolios, work samples, and benchmark activities to monitor student learning growth and meet NGSS Standards and Common Core Standards;
7. Collaborative/team building skills;
8. Knowledge of Special Education;
9. Working knowledge of Basic Spanish.
