As a vital member of our psychiatric services team, you will support clients youth along their mental health journey by:
- Assessing their mental and physical health upon admission
- Processing tests (TB,)
- Completing lab orders and securing test results
- Addressing somatic complaints
- Completing medication reconciliations, and physical assessments
- Ensuring that medication consents are complete
- Supporting pain resolution
- Assessing the need for precautions and reassessments
- Completing thorough charting
- Providing education on medication, physical concerns, and activities of daily living such as proper hygiene.
- Assist in coordinating residential youth care.
- Complete initial assessments
- Will administer medications, precautions monitoring, and pain reassessments.
- Complete all required clinical documentation
- Is sensitive to the interrelationships of both people and functions within the department.
- Will follow Meaningful Use measures.
- May also be required to provide injections, test blood glucose and/or draw blood for lab tests.
- Interacts directly with clients and families.
- Interacts frequently with physicians, and other center employees involved in the case.
- Will work interdependently with other health care professionals to provide quality health care to clients.
Minimum hiring requirements:
- Active Indiana Registered Nursing (RN) license
- Two years of post-degree psychiatric experience preferred
- Oaklawn offers student externship opportunities for nursing and medical assisting students on a limited basis. Interested students should inquire directly regarding current needs and capacity.
