Are you passionate about mentoring the next generation of skilled professionals? Oakland Schools is seeking energetic, team-oriented individuals to bring real-world skills to life as Instructional Technicians. If you are considering becoming an instructor or want to jumpstart a career in education, these roles offer a fantastic, hands-on way to get into the classroom. They are also the perfect opportunity for experienced individuals looking to get back into the classroom environment without the primary responsibilities of being the lead instructor. In these roles, you will work collaboratively with program instructors to provide technical and academic instruction, support classroom and shop safety, and drive student success.


We currently have three distinct instructional pathways available:


1. Medium/Heavy Truck and Equipment Instructional Technician

  • Location: Oakland Schools Technical Campus - Southwest (Wixom, MI)
  • In This Role: Fuel the future of the transportation industry by supporting student instruction in diagnostics, repair, safety protocols, and heavy equipment operation.


2. Collision Repair and Refinishing Instructional Technician

  • Location: Oakland Schools Technical Campus - Southeast (Royal Oak, MI)
  • In This Role: Support a busy, project-based shop environment using your background in collision repair and refinishing trades to guide high school students safely and effectively.


3. Welding Instructional Technician

  • Location: Oakland Schools Technical Campus - Southwest (Wixom, MI)
  • In This Role: Support a busy, project-based shop environment using your background in welding trades to guide high school students safely and effectively.


What You Need:

  • High School Diploma or GED required (Associate's degree preferred for the Truck and Equipment pathway).
  • Two or more years of recent and relevant industry work experience is preferred.
  • Comfort interacting with high school students and a commitment to maintaining a safe, organized, and orderly learning environment.
  • Ability to properly utilize program-specific tools as well as standard office technology.
