Lead Facilities Technician

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM (may be subject to change based on operational needs)

 

At Justice Grown, we're looking for a skilled, hands-on Lead Facilities Technician to support maintenance across our cannabis cultivation and dispensary operations. You'll serve as the go-to resource for daily facilities tasks, helping prioritize work, troubleshoot and repair critical systems, respond to urgent needs, and keep our facilities safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant.

 

While this is not a supervisory role, you'll provide day-to-day guidance to team members and coordinate with vendors, contractors, and management. What You'll Do

As the Lead Facilities Technician, you'll serve as the daily point person for facilities task execution while performing hands-on maintenance across our cultivation and dispensary operations. You'll help ensure maintenance activities are prioritized, completed safely and efficiently, and performed in compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the daily point person for task assignments, ensuring maintenance activities are prioritized and completed on schedule.
  • Maintain strong communication with team members, vendors, and management, including daily updates on task progress and issues.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance programs and tasks for all equipment.
  • Conduct building walkthroughs to identify safety or facility issues; document and address deficiencies.
  • Support equipment inspections, repairs, replacements, and modifications as needed or assigned by the Facilities Manager.
  • Perform minor repairs of buildings, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
  • Perform general facility repairs, including but not limited to:
    • Adjusting or replacing hardware on doors, cabinets, and furniture.
    • Replacing damaged ceiling tiles, wall coverings, or flooring.
    • Basic electrical and plumbing fixes, including lights, ballasts, faucets, and toilets.
    • Patching, painting, and minor masonry.
    • Snow removal, de-icing, or grounds upkeep.
  • Respond to urgent or emergency work orders, including leaks, electrical failures, and facility safety concerns.
  • Assist with special projects, installations, and facility moves.
  • Complete and submit Preventative Maintenance slips, Work Orders, and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with contractors and specialists for complex repairs or escalated tasks.
  • Promote safety by reporting hazards and ensuring PPE and compliance standards are followed.
  • Follow and ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, GMP, FDA, State, Local, and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in fostering a respectful, inclusive work culture rooted in curiosity and professionalism within the cannabis industry.
  • Report all facility safety and security issues to management.
  • Perform general cleaning of the facility, equipment, and tools.
  • Assist in fostering a positive work environment, treating everyone with dignity and respect while perpetuating a curiosity for everything cannabis.
  • The Lead Facilities Technician may be required, at the Company's discretion and based on business or operational needs, to obtain and maintain an applicable boiler operator certification or license. If required, the employee must complete the certification within the timeframe established by the Company.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned to fulfill company goals.

 

What We're Looking For

Qualifications include:

  • Associate's Degree plus 2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician, with a focus on industrial and facility maintenance.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to problem solve and lead a team.
  • Hands-on expertise with boiler systems, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Familiarity with boilermaker duties, such as assembling, installing, and repairing boilers, tanks, and other large vessels.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics related to boilers and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with welding, cutting, and metal fabrication techniques commonly used in boilermaker tasks.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance for boiler operation and maintenance preferred.
  • Ability to inspect and test boilers and related systems for proper functioning and adherence to safety standards.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining pumps, motors, and HVAC systems.
  • Problem-solving skills and a commitment to preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Ability to manage several tasks and projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while providing day-to-day guidance and coordination to maintenance team members.
  • Ability to work effectively with vendors, contractors, specialists, management, and cross-functional teams.

Lead Responsibilities

This position does not have formal supervisory responsibility but serves as the daily point person for facilities task execution. The Lead Facilities Technician is responsible for organizing and guiding the daily workflow of facilities tasks, helping assign priorities, communicating task progress and issues, and ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

 

The Lead Facilities Technician is expected to lead by example through hands-on maintenance work, strong communication, accountability, safety awareness, quality workmanship, and a commitment to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to perform hands-on repairs involving building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, mechanical equipment, and related facility systems.
  • Ability to safely perform snow removal, de-icing, grounds upkeep, and other outdoor maintenance activities as operationally required.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
  • Ability to work around machinery, electrical systems, airborne particles, humidity, temperature fluctuations, and industrial noise while wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with boiler maintenance, mechanical repairs, welding, cutting, fabrication, and general facility maintenance.
