Team Leadership & Oversight

 

  • ·         Lead, supervise, direct, and support hourly Cultivation Associates and Supervisors in daily tasks including watering, feeding, pruning, transplanting, and cleaning cultivation areas.
  • ·         Mentor your team to ensure excellent work ethic and performance.
  • ·         Manage performance expectations, issue coaching and corrective action in alignment with HR policies, and conduct annual performance evaluations.
  • ·         Promote a positive team culture rooted in accountability, communication, and mutual respect.
  • ·         Ensure team is consistently meeting production goals while maintaining plant health and compliance.
  • ·         Maintain proper staffing levels, participate in on-site interviews and raise concerns to HR when there are personnel issues that need to be addressed.

Cultivation Operations

  • ·         Oversee all aspects of plant care including cloning, transplanting, feeding, pruning, pest management, and harvesting.
  • ·         Maintain optimal growing conditions by monitoring and adjusting environmental controls (lighting, HVAC, irrigation, CO2, etc.).
  • ·         Troubleshoot operational issues and collaborate with facilities/maintenance to resolve equipment problems quickly.
  • ·         Ensure consistent adherence to cultivation schedules and production goals.

 

Compliance & Recordkeeping

 

·         Track and document all cultivation activities using the state-mandated seed-to-sale system (MJ Freeway), ensuring compliance with CRC regulations.

·         Maintain accurate records for plant inventory, environmental conditions, sanitation, waste, and daily task completion.

·         Support audits and inspections by maintaining clean, compliant workspaces and up-to-date records.

 

Performance & Continuous Improvement

 

·         Monitor hourly team productivity and ensure KPIs are met across quantity, quality, and compliance metrics.

·         Participate in continuous improvement and safety programs, including 5S and Hazard Communication.

·         Assist in scheduling labor and resource needs across weekly/monthly cultivation plans.

·         Collaborate with the Cultivation Manager on workflow improvements, training needs, and team development.

·         Adherence to individual and team key-performance indicators (“KPIs”) as directed by manager

Education and Experience 

  • ·         3 years of experience in cannabis cultivation, agriculture, or horticulture with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • ·         2 years leading a team of 15 or more
  • ·         Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, Agronomy, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
  • ·         Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • ·         Familiarity with regulated cannabis environments and seed-to-sale tracking systems (e.g., MJ Freeway).
  • ·         Knowledge of environmental controls, integrated pest management (IPM), and cannabis plant health standards.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to learn and improve each operation.
  • Understand basic weight and measurement concepts and able to operate various scales and meters.
  • Must possess the physical aptitude and health necessary to perform manual labor tasks required to accomplish duties.

Language Skills

Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must display professional telephone etiquette and be able to interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Ability to effectively present information in one on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry our instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is normal. The employee is frequently exposed to an environment of natural chemical fumes, herbal aromas, airborne particles, exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. Employee will have moderate exposure to conditions such as dust and particles that affect the respiratory system, eyes, or the skin, depending on department job assignments. Personal Protective Equipment is provided for employees to utilize and should be worn.
