Position Overview
We are seeking a clinically strong and compassionate Optometrist to join our ophthalmology-based practice on a part-time basis (2–3 days per week). This role is ideal for an optometrist who enjoys a balanced scope of practice, including routine care, contact lenses, specialty lenses, and medical eye disease management, while collaborating closely with ophthalmologists.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive and routine eye examinations
- Diagnose and manage routine ocular conditions
- Provide medical eye care, including diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and specialty contact lenses
- Manage patients with ocular diseases such as glaucoma, dry eye, and diabetic eye disease
- Educate patients regarding eye health, treatment options, and preventative care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and experienced clinical staff
Ideal Candidate
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited optometry school
- Active Michigan Optometry License (or ability to obtain)
- Well versed in:
- Routine eye exams and common ocular conditions
- Contact lenses and specialty lenses
- Medical diseases of the eye and treatment protocols
- Strong clinical judgment and patient communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, medical-focused environment
- New graduates with strong medical training are welcome to apply
