Position Profile
Oakland Christian School is seeking a passionate, committed, and faith-driven individual to serve as the Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach. The ideal candidate will lead and develop a competitive basketball program while modeling Christian values, building strong relationships with student-athletes, and contributing to the overall mission of the school.
General Responsibilities
- Lead, organize, and oversee all aspects of the varsity boys basketball program
- Develop student-athletes both athletically and spiritually in alignment with the school’s Christian mission.
- Plan and conduct effective practices, skill development sessions, and game strategies.
- Build and sustain a competitive program that emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship
- Mentor and support student-athletes in their personal growth, character, and leadership
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director on scheduling, program development, and team operations
- Supervise and support assistant coaches at all levels (JV and middle school, if applicable)
- Maintain positive communications with players, parents, and school administration
- Ensure compliance with all school league, and MHSAA regulations
- Promote the program within the school and community

Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience (high school or higher preferred)
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and player development
- Demonstrated leadership, organization, and communications skills
- Commitment to mentoring student-athletes in a Christ-centered environment
- Ability to build a positive, disciplined, and accountable team culture
- Must meet all school and state requirements
