Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Survey Crew Chief role based in Rehoboth, MA. The Survey Crew Chief will lead a field crew to perform a variety of land surveying tasks, including boundary, topographic, construction, and ALTA surveys. Responsibilities include organizing daily field activities, setting up and operating total stations and related surveying equipment, collecting accurate field data, and ensuring that work complies with project specifications and standards. The role involves interpreting plans and deeds, establishing control points, maintaining clear field notes and documentation, and coordinating with office staff on project requirements. The Survey Crew Chief will also be responsible for maintaining equipment, promoting a strong safety culture, and providing guidance and direction to crew members.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in land surveying practices, including Land Surveying and Boundary Surveys.
- Experience performing Topographic Surveys and ALTA Surveys for design, permitting, and documentation.
- Hands-on experience with Total Station instruments and related surveying tools and technology.
- Strong understanding of survey calculations, coordinate geometry (COGO), and field-to-finish workflows.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, plats, deeds, and construction documents.
- Effective leadership skills with experience directing field crews and coordinating daily work.
- Strong attention to detail, thorough documentation skills, and commitment to data accuracy and quality control.
- Good communication skills for collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other team members.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.
- Relevant technical certificate or degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related field preferred; licensure or intent to pursue professional surveyor credentials is a plus.
