What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cemetery Sexton position at Oakdale Memorial Gardens?
Local historic cemetery in need of a Sexton, starting wage depending on experience, $16-$17 per hour Monday – Friday 8AM-4:30PM some Saturdays as needed.

Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Inc. was established in 1856 and is an independent, non-profit cemetery located on 78 acres along Eastern Avenue in the heart of Davenport, Iowa. It is one of the Quad Cities oldest and most beautiful cemeteries, boasting century-old oaks, gently rolling hills and knolls, and a beautiful reflecting pond near the cemetery entrance.
Salary negotiable based on experience. Paid holidays after 60 days.
General overview of duties:
-Supervise and work with six employees
-Common Sense required, this is a manual labor job.
-Detailed Oriented - start a project and finish it in a timely matter
-Self-starter sees something that needs to be done and does it
-Valid Driver License – Lead funerals into cemetery to gravesite, Run errands, Pick up animals from Veternarian Clinics for Cremation.
-Mowing grass, String Trimming weeds, Rake Leaves, Rake and pick up sticks
-Heavy lifting up to 50lb - if need to be a pallbearer, setting or resetting markers and picking up large pets from Veternarian Clinics
-Operate and preventive maintenance on company equipment:
-Zero-turn mowers
-String trimmers
-Chain saws
-Hedge Trimmer to trim bushes
-Gas powered compactor/tamper
-Gas power wood chipper
-4-wheel drive tractor RTV with dump
-Gas power cement mixer
- Snow plowing with 1-ton pick-up, tractor with bucket, snow blower and hand shovling
-Able use a shovel, spade, rake, probe, tree lopper, pruner, hammer, power drill, and chop saw

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
